Working Together
Ellesmere Port together against knife crime
At Blades Down we are passionate about working alongside other community groups and organisations to combat the devastating impact of knife crime in our community.
Â
lease can we all follow & support our community organisation Blades Down
We have started to create a community network of Youth organisations to implement a knife crime and gang culture prevention programme in Ellesmere Port.
Each organisation brings something different to the network but ultimately we have the same goals.Â
Â
Being a united community gives us a better chance at creating communities where education, awareness, and support systems work in harmony to prevent violence and promote a culture of peace.Â
Gloves Not Gangs
Gloves Not Gangs is a local community group set up to help prevent young people within Ellesmere Port who are at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour associated with gang culture and knife crime.Â
Based at the Wirral CP Boxing Club, Gloves Not Gangs has first hand experience of working alongside young people from different backgrounds and fosters a culture of respect and equips them with the skills and knowledge to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence. Most importantly they provide young people with a safe environment to do something positive.
Gloves Not Gangs is currently working in partnership with Blades Down to fundraise and raise awareness.
Youth Service
The Ellesmere Port Youth Service has been an incredible support to Blades Down. They share our key values and together we hope to educate more young people on the dangers of knife crime and anti-social behaviour.Â
They provide young people with somewhere to go in the evenings that is safe, where they enjoy time with friends, peers and meet new people, its place to chill out, have fun and take part in weekly activities such as; sports, dance, arts and craft, graffiti art, healthy cooking, and recreational activities. Young People are encouraged to get involved in workshops to learn new skills and take part in new exciting opportunities. Young people participate and have a voice in the programme planning of events and activities.
Ellesmere Port Rugby Football Club - Mini's & Jnrs
At the Ellesmere Port rugby club Mini & Juniors they provide rugby to children of all abilities aged 6-16 both boys and girls.
They are not just a rugby club, they are a family, at the heart of a community.
They label themselves as the pride of the port, but they are proud to come from Ellesmere Port, and they always try to do what we can to help our local community.
Â
Their goal has always been to get as many people playing rugby as possible, regardless of any social boundaries or labels, we want to get you to come down, as rugby has been proven to help people from all backgrounds with whole range of issues, and instills not only a fitness and teamwork mentality, but also discipline and respect.
Â
All of their coaches and staff at EPRUFC are from varied backgrounds, but have all at some point had someone to steer them right, and now we are the ones looking to help the youngsters and be that guiding light that was offered to us.
